We Went to the Fair!

To start, I'd like to give a quick shout out to Alex's Aunt Debbie for taking us to a (my first) Seattle Sounders game! I've always liked the Seahawks and so it was a very surreal moment to walk into the Century Link Stadium and watch the city's pro soccer team play AND win against the New York Red Bulls 4-2. Go Sounders! Woo!

Scarves Up for the Sounders!

I moved to Washington at the beginning of June to live with my boyfriend, Alex and soon find work in the financial planning industry. Washington is so beautiful. I compare it to living in Tahoe, which is awesome because Tahoe is such a magical place. We currently live with his lovely parents in Edmonds. Edmonds is so cute, it's right next to the Puget Sound and it has its very own downtown.

Low quality photo. High quality people.

This weekend Alex and I went to Edmond's first ever Oktoberfest... In September! Just kidding, Oktoberfest typically starts in the last few weeks of September because the last day is always the first Sunday of October. It was my first real time out in Edmonds after hours and I was so excited to finally meet a lot of Alex's friends as well as seeing a few familiar faces that I met down in Northridge.

Seeing everyone still so close after growing up together all the way from kindergarten to now is really cool. Love the camaraderie between everyone and even everyone's parents.

They were serving these bad boys! They were so juicy! (Ali Wong anyone?)

On Saturday, we went to the Washington State Fair in Puyallup with Alex's cousin, Mark and his girlfriend, Trina. We lucked out and it wasn't raining. Now, for my Reno people, it's like the Reno rodeo fair, minus the rodeo and then the games are all like the ones at Circus Circus. Unfortunately, we didn't go on any rides this time because the lines were crazy long. However, we did enjoy a gigantic corn dog and some turkey leg tacos before playing some carnival games. I didn't get a chance to try an elephant ear, but that's next on my To-Eat List!

A whole bunch of winners, but no chicken dinners

Alex and his prizes. Go Dawgs right?

Speaking of the games... Oh, it was AMAZING! You know that game where they have three pins all stacked up and you have to knock them down with a ball? Seems easy until you realize the pins each weigh like 10 pounds and the ball you use is like a pillow that weighs -6 pounds. Haha! So anyways, Alex, with his collegiate baseball playing experience was able to knock them down not only at the standard distance, but again when they were three times as far! Each was a separate game and each time, he spent tickets on 3-4 balls where he missed way off the first time, making the booth attendants roll their eyes at yet another contestant who thinks they've got what it takes to do the impossible. But each attempt got slightly closer until he completely wrecks the pyramid formation of heavy pins! I've never had a boy win me such a big prize! That's like a movie, fairy tale dream. The booth attendants, impressed with their jaws dropped handed over the prizes.

My super stoked, kinda surprised reaction to winning this bad boy.

These weren't the only prizes won for the night. The first game I played, the one where you squirt water from a gun into a clown's mouth to blow up a balloon, I had won, but the booth attendant thought differently. Feeling salty and a bit robbed of the cute piggy, I was skeptical to playing these tricky games. Then we got to our last bit of tickets and Alex convinced me to split them between us for two shots at the basketball hoop game. Now, Alex has high school varsity experience playing basketball and always makes fun of my free throwing technique when we would go to the rec center at CSUN, before offering some helpful tips to improve my form. But, Saturday night was a different story. He missed both and I MADE both! My goal was to win a stuffed animal for Alice, since she has been on the lookout for new head covers. Our mom converted a few childhood stuffed animals into head covers for her during her senior year of high school and Alice is keeping it going. Pretty cool recycling idea.

Had a fun couple of weeks here with the rain coming down earlier than usual, apparently. This Reno girl doesn't mind though! Time to really crack down on some SIE studying. Alex is taking his exam on Wednesday! I know he's gonna do great and although he won't really need it, please wish him good luck!:)

Have a great October everyone! It is of course, the BEST month of the year;)
